In 1920, the Philadelphia mint produced a run of 228,250 gold double eagles, representing a classic era of American coinage. This particular specimen has survived in remarkable condition, certified by professional graders at Mint State 63. Containing 0.9675 troy ounces of gold, the coin is a physical testament to the artistry of early twentieth-century currency. The front of the coin displays a powerful depiction of Lady Liberty. She is shown mid-stride, moving forward with a torch in one hand to light the path and an olive branch in the other, set against the radiating beams of a rising sun. The date 1920 is clearly visible on this side. On the reverse, a majestic bald eagle is captured mid-flight, soaring through the sky above a golden sun. The back also carries the essential identifying inscriptions, displaying the issuing authority as the United States of America along with the face value of Twenty Dollars.
