This United States commemorative silver half dollar, minted in 1920, celebrates the three-hundredth anniversary of the Pilgrim landing. Struck in 90 percent silver with a metal content of 0.3617 troy ounces, this brilliant uncirculated coin features a beautifully toned finish that highlights its intricate details. The obverse of the coin portrays William Bradford, the famous Pilgrim Governor, cradling his Bible. The design also incorporates the iconic ship, the Mayflower. On the reverse, the Mayflower is depicted sailing under full canvas. The inscriptions on the coin include the dual dates of 1620 and 1920, alongside the phrases UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, PILGRIM HALF DOLLAR, and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. An intriguing detail for observers is the small letter D located on the coin. While often mistaken for a Denver mint mark, this letter is actually the personal signature of the designer, Cyrus Dallin. The coin itself was struck at the Philadelphia Mint, which did not use a mint mark for this issue.
