The 1920-S Walking Liberty half dollar represents a fascinating moment in United States coinage, struck at the San Francisco Mint during the early decades of the twentieth century. Composed of 90 percent silver, this piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. Even in an Almost Good state of preservation, the coin carries the unmistakable outlines of one of America's most celebrated numismatic designs. Created by the sculptor Adolph Weinman, the obverse of the coin depicts Lady Liberty draped in the American flag, moving gracefully toward a rising sun. In her arms, she cradles a bundle of oak and pine branches, symbolizing civil and military strength.
