1920 Walking Liberty Half Dollar XF

0.3575 troy oz .900 1920 Extra Fine

Struck in 1920, this United States half dollar is a beautiful example of early twentieth-century silver coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. Minted in Philadelphia, this piece does not bear a mint mark, which was standard practice for the facility at the time. The obverse of the coin displays the celebrated design by artist Adolph Weinman, featuring Lady Liberty moving gracefully toward a rising sun. She carries a bundle of oak and pine branches in her left arm, symbolizing civil and military strength, while her right hand is outstretched in a gesture of welcome. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is clearly visible alongside the 1920 date. On the reverse, a powerful eagle stands perched upon a rugged mountain crag, its wings partially spread as if preparing to take flight. A pine sapling grows from the rock, representing the vigor of a growing nation. The reverse inscriptions read "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and the denomination "HALF DOLLAR."
