The year 1921 marked a unique revival for one of America's most famous silver coins. Under the authority of the 1918 Pittman Act, the Morgan Dollar was brought back for a final production run. Because the original hubs had been destroyed years prior, the master dies had to be entirely recreated by George T. Morgan. This recreation resulted in a slightly flatter relief on the coin's surface compared to earlier issues in the series. This specific coin represents a historic first and last, as 1921 was the only year the Denver Mint ever produced the Morgan Dollar. Struck in 90 percent fine silver, the coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal, with a diameter of 38.1 mm and a thickness of 3.1 mm. Out of a total mintage of 20,345,000 for this issue, this particular specimen has been certified in Mint State 64 (MS-64) condition. The obverse presents a left-facing profile of Lady Liberty, her hair adorned with a Phrygian cap decorated with cotton and wheat sprigs. The designer's initial, a small letter M, is nestled at the base of her neck. On the reverse, a bald eagle with outstretched wings clutches an olive branch and arrows. The Denver mint mark, a small letter D, is positioned on the reverse side, located just above the letters O and L in the word DOLLAR. Another tiny initial M can be found on the ribbon holding the laurel wreath together, completing this beautifully preserved piece of American numismatic history.
