Struck by the Banco de México, the 1921 Gold 50 Pesos is a remarkable specimen of early twentieth-century coinage. This impressive issue contains 1.2057 troy ounces of gold, minted with a purity of 0.900. It represents the inaugural year of this iconic denomination, which was produced with a limited mintage of 180,000 pieces. The obverse of the coin showcases the national coat of arms of Mexico, depicting a powerful golden eagle perched upon a cactus while holding a snake in its beak. This central image is encircled by the inscription ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS, representing the official name of the nation. This certified example is graded Mint State 63 (MS-63), preserving the fine details of its historic design. On the reverse, the celebrated Angel of Independence design stands as the central focus.
