1921 Morgan Dollar MS-64 NGC
The year 1921 marked a dramatic final chapter for one of America's most celebrated silver coins. Following the directives of the 1918 Pittman Act, which required the melting of millions of older silver dollars, the United States resumed minting the classic Morgan design one last time. This particular issue represents the ultimate year of production for this iconic series before the Peace Dollar succeeded it. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint without a mint mark, this specimen is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.7734 troy ounces of the precious metal. The coin measures 38.1 millimeters in diameter. It has been certified in Mint State 64 (MS-64), preserving the crisp details of George T. Morgan's legendary engraving work. The obverse features a left-facing profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap decorated with native American agricultural staples, specifically cotton and wheat. Surrounding her portrait is the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM and the date 1921. On the reverse, a majestic eagle with spread wings clutches an olive branch and arrows, framed by the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR, and the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST.
