The 1921 Morgan Dollar represents a fascinating moment in American numismatic history. Following a massive melting of silver dollars under the Pittman Act of 1918, the United States resumed production of this iconic series for one final year. Because the original hubs had been destroyed, designer George T. Morgan had to engrave entirely new dies for this 1921 issue, giving this specific year a subtly distinct appearance compared to its predecessors. Struck at the Philadelphia mint without a mint mark, this coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.7734 troy ounces of pure precious metal. It measures 38.1 millimeters in diameter and has a thickness of 3.1 millimeters. This particular specimen is certified in Mint State 64 (MS-64), preserving the crisp details of the freshly engraved 1921 design. The obverse features the classic left-facing profile of Lady Liberty, surrounded by the year of coinage, 1921. On the reverse, a bald eagle stretches its wings while clutching an olive branch and arrows, symbolizing both peace and readiness. The reverse also bears the inscriptions "STATES OF AMERICA", "ONE DOLLAR", and the motto "In God we trust".
