The 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar stands as a classic representative of American coinage, containing 0.7734 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver. This particular issue is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, meaning the coin displays no wear and retains its original mint luster. Because of the substantial weight of these silver pieces, it is common to observe typical contact marks from their time in storage and transit, which adds to the unique character of each surviving specimen. Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse of the coin presents a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty. In a departure from traditional classical depictions, the model for Liberty was Anna Willess Williams, making this the first United States coin to showcase a distinctly American-looking representation of the figure. Her cap is decorated with agricultural elements, specifically wheat and cotton, symbolizing the nation's bounty. On the reverse, Morgan created a realistically proportioned bald eagle with finely detailed feathers. The majestic bird is depicted clutching an olive branch of peace and a bundle of war arrows in its talons. Surrounding this central image are the clear inscriptions denoting the country of origin as the United States of America, the face value of One Dollar, and the traditional motto, In God We Trust.
