1921-S Buffalo Nickel VG

0.0000 troy oz 1921 Very Good

The 1921 Buffalo nickel, struck at the San Francisco Mint, represents a classic era of American coinage design. This five cent piece, composed of copper, displays a rugged and distinctly American aesthetic. On the obverse, a detailed profile of a Native American faces right, accompanied by the inscription LIBERTY and the year 1921. On the reverse, a massive American bison stands on a raised mound. This particular animal was modeled after Black Diamond, a famous bison of the era. The reverse inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, FIVE CENTS, the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the S mint mark below the mound, indicating its origin in San Francisco. This coin survives in Very Good condition, showing honest wear from its time in circulation.
