In the years following the First World War, the United States Mint embarked on a mission to create a coin celebrating the newly established global harmony. The result was this striking silver dollar, produced from 1922 to 1925, which represents the final design of its denomination ever struck in silver for circulation. The coin's origin traces back to a design competition, where artist Anthony de Francisci created the winning imagery that captured the spirit of a hopeful nation. The front of the coin displays a left-facing portrait of Liberty, adorned with a crown of sharp, radiating light beams. This particular depiction of Liberty drew inspiration from the iconic Statue of Liberty. On the reverse, a bald eagle is shown resting quietly on a mountain peak, holding an olive branch in its talons to represent peace. The word "PEACE" is inscribed at the base of the design, while the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is featured on the front, utilizing a classic Latin-style spelling where the letter U is rendered as a V. Struck with a composition containing 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver, these coins are preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. This means they retain their original luster and crisp details, just as they looked when they first left the coining presses nearly a century ago.
