In 1922, the United States marked a significant centenary with a special gold dollar honoring Ulysses S. Grant. Minted in Philadelphia without a mint mark, this issue is part of a very limited production of just 5,016 pieces. The obverse of the coin displays a portrait of Ulysses S. Grant, surrounded by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ULYSSES S. GRANT". The reverse features a quiet, wooded scene showcasing a humble log cabin, flanked by the words "ONE DOLLAR" and the dual dates "1822" and "1922". Traditional mottos "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM" are also integrated into the design. Struck in 0.900 fine gold with a weight of approximately 0.0483 troy ounces, this specimen has survived the decades in an extraordinary state of preservation.
