1923-D $20 St Gaudens Gold Double Eagle MS-62 PCGS

0.9675 troy oz .900 1923 MS-62 (PCGS)

In 1923, the Denver Mint produced this twenty-dollar gold coin, a classic piece of American coinage from the pre-1933 era. Containing 0.9675 troy ounces of pure gold, this specimen is graded Mint State 62 (MS-62), preserving the intricate details of its legendary design. The obverse of the coin showcases Lady Liberty moving forward with a sense of purpose, carrying a torch to light the way and an olive branch as a symbol of peace. This dynamic depiction is framed by a border of stars, representing the spirit of a growing nation. On the reverse, a magnificent bald eagle is captured mid-flight, soaring through the rays of a rising sun. The inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "TWENTY DOLLARS" are clearly struck on this side. Designed by the celebrated sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this series was minted from 1907 to 1933, making this Denver-struck issue a remarkable survivor from the final decade of the design's production.
