In 1923, the Philadelphia Mint produced a remarkable run of silver dollars that captured a hopeful moment in global history. Striking over 30 million of these pieces, the mint created a design that departed from traditional military motifs, opting instead for a theme of tranquility. This particular specimen survives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of its original manufacture. The front of the coin displays a modern representation of Lady Liberty, her hair unbound and adorned with a crown of pointed light rays. Arcing above her is the word LIBERTY, while the national motto IN GOD WE TRUST is split across the field. Below her portrait, the date 1923 is clearly inscribed. On the reverse, a bald eagle is shown in a moment of rest, perched atop a mountain crag and holding an olive branch. The sun's rays stream upward from the lower right, illuminating the word PEACE inscribed at the very base. This design contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver, minted with a purity of 90 percent, making it a fascinating study in early twentieth-century American coinage.
