The 1923 Peace Dollar stands as a remarkable example of American silver coinage from the era following the First World War. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this particular issue does not bear a mint mark, which distinguishes it from those produced at branch facilities. The Philadelphia facility produced a total of 30,800,000 of these silver dollars in 1923, each composed of 90 percent silver and containing 0.7734 troy ounces of the precious metal. On the obverse, the design presents a profile of Lady Liberty wearing a crown of sharp, radiating light beams. The word LIBERTY is paired with the motto IN GOD WE TRVST, which utilizes the classic Latin spelling of the letter V in place of a U. The date 1923 is positioned directly beneath the portrait. The reverse of the coin showcases a bald eagle perched quietly upon a mountain crag, clutching an olive branch.
