1924 $20 St Gaudens Gold Double Eagle MS-66 PCGS

In 1924, the Philadelphia Mint produced more than four million of the twenty dollar gold double eagle coins. This particular specimen survived the decades in an extraordinary state of preservation, earning a high certified grade of Mint State 66 (MS-66). Struck from 0.900 fine gold with a total gold content of 0.9675 troy ounces, these heavy gold pieces represent a famous era of United States coinage before the gold recalls of the 1930s. The obverse of the coin features the iconic figure of Liberty walking forward, with the date 1924 clearly visible. The reverse bears the classic motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" among its design elements. Because this coin was struck at the main Philadelphia facility, it bears no mint mark, leaving the focus entirely on the high-relief details that remain exceptionally crisp on this highly graded survivor.
