1924-D $20 St Gaudens Gold Double Eagle MS-63 PCGS

0.9675 troy oz .900 1924 PCGS

The 1924-D Gold Double Eagle represents a classic era of United States coinage. Struck from 0.900 fine gold, this twenty-dollar coin contains 0.9675 troy ounces of precious metal. The Denver Mint produced this specific issue as part of a series that spanned from 1907 to 1933, with other examples struck in Philadelphia and San Francisco. On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted walking forward, holding a torch to light her path and an olive branch as a symbol of peace. This dynamic image, designed by the celebrated artist Augustus Saint-Gaudens, is widely considered one of the most beautiful in American numismatics. The reverse of the coin features a majestic bald eagle captured mid-flight, soaring through the sky. The inscriptions on this side clearly display the issuing nation, "United States of America", alongside the face value of "Twenty Dollars". This particular specimen has been certified by a third-party grading service at a Mint State 63 grade.
