0.0000 troy oz 1924 Almost Unc

The 1924 nickel struck at the Denver Mint captures a rugged, distinctly American aesthetic. This five-cent piece features a striking profile of a Native American on the obverse, accompanied by the word LIBERTY and the date of manufacture. The design, created by James Earle Fraser, represents a departure from traditional neoclassical coin imagery, opting instead for a textured and realistic portrait. On the reverse, a massive American bison dominates the field. This animal, modeled after a famous bison named Black Diamond, is depicted standing on a raised mound of earth. The inscriptions PLURIBUS UNUM and FIVE CENTS surround the animal, along with the distinct D mint mark indicating its origin in Denver. This particular specimen survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the fine details of the bison's coat and the sharp lines of the native profile.
