Struck in 1924, this United States ten-cent piece is a brilliant uncirculated survivor from the pre-1933 era of American coinage. Composed of 90% silver with a metal content of 0.0715 troy ounces, the coin represents a classic era of United States currency. This particular issue was produced at the Philadelphia Mint, which historically did not place a mint mark on its coinage. The obverse of the coin displays a youthful representation of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a design element created by Adolph Weinman. This distinctive headwear often led observers to mistake the figure for the Roman messenger god, Mercury, giving the series its popular nickname. Legible inscriptions on this side include the word LIBERTY alongside the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the 1924 date. On the reverse, the design presents a fasces, a bundle of rods bound around an axe, paired with an olive branch. This side features the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DIME, and the Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM, completing a highly detailed and symbolic piece of American numismatic history.
