The 1924 Peace Dollar stands as a remarkable artifact from the interwar period, representing a brief era of global hope. This silver coin, containing 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal, was part of a series minted between 1921 and 1928, and later revived for a short period in 1934 and 1935. It holds a significant place in American numismatic history as the final silver dollar denomination ever produced for circulation. Born from an open design competition, the coin features the artistry of Anthony de Francisci. On the obverse, a left-facing portrait of Liberty wears a crown of sharp, radiating light beams, with her likeness inspired by the iconic Statue of Liberty. The inscriptions "LIBERTY", "IN GOD WE TRUST", and the year "1924" frame this classic profile. The reverse side displays a powerful bald eagle resting on a mountain crag, holding an olive branch in its talons. This imagery was specifically chosen to represent the concept of peace following the devastation of World War I. The word "PEACE" is inscribed at the base of the design, accompanied by "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "ONE DOLLAR". This specific specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, retaining its original mint luster just as it looked when it left the Philadelphia Mint.
