The 1924 Buffalo Nickel, struck at the San Francisco Mint, represents a classic era of American coinage design. This five cent piece, preserved in Almost Good condition, showcases the distinct artistry of James Fraser, who chose to celebrate the natural and cultural heritage of the American West. On the obverse, a detailed profile of a Native American looks out, capturing a powerful and dignified portrait. The reverse of the coin features a magnificent American bison standing atop a raised mound. This particular animal was modeled after Black Diamond, a famous bison who lived during that era. Legible portions of the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM and the denomination FIVE CENTS frame this iconic wildlife depiction.
