In 1925, the Philadelphia facility of the United States Mint struck this magnificent twenty dollar gold piece, a denomination frequently referred to as a double eagle. Containing 0.9675 troy ounces of gold with a purity of 0.900, this issue represents a classic era of American coinage that spanned from 1907 to 1933. The visual design, conceived by the celebrated artist Augustus Saint-Gaudens, is widely regarded as a masterpiece of numismatic art. On the obverse, a powerful depiction of Lady Liberty strides forward, holding an olive branch alongside a lit torch, set against a backdrop of radiating sunbeams. The reverse of the coin presents a bald eagle soaring through the air.
