1925 Lexington-Concord Half & Orig Wooden Distribution Box
Struck in 1925, this silver half dollar commemorates the sesquicentennial of the historic events at Lexington and Concord. The coin contains 0.3617 troy ounces of silver and is preserved in brilliant uncirculated condition. Its designs, crafted by Chester Beach, bring early American history to life on a small metal canvas. The front of the coin features the iconic Concord Minuteman, a symbol of rapid colonial mobilization. On the reverse, the design showcases the Old Belfry in Lexington, the famous structure whose bell rang out to summon local militia members to the battlefield. The inscriptions on the coin include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, PATRIOT HALF DOLLAR, and CONCORD MINUTE-MAN, alongside the dates 1775 and 1925. Adding to the historical intrigue of this issue is its accompanying wooden distribution box. Crafted from pine by the Lexington Trust Company, this original container features stamped imagery that mirrors the coin itself, with the Concord Minuteman on the front panel and the Old Belfry of Lexington, Massachusetts, on the back.
