1925-S California Diamond Jubilee BU (Toned)
Struck in 1925 to commemorate the seventy fifth anniversary of California statehood, this silver half dollar is a striking example of early twentieth century commemorative design. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.3617 troy ounces of the precious metal. This particular specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, displaying a natural toning that enhances its visual character. The obverse of the coin, designed by artist Jo Mora, depicts a kneeling gold miner panning for riches, representing the famous Forty Niners who shaped the region's history. This side bears the classic inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "CALIFORNIA'S DIAMOND JUBILEE", alongside the 1925 date. On the reverse, a powerful grizzly bear is shown walking, serving as a representation of the California state emblem. This side of the coin carries the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "HALF DOLLAR". Minted in San Francisco, this piece stands as a beautiful tribute to the Golden State's vibrant heritage.
