Struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1925, this silver ten-cent piece represents a classic era of American coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. This particular specimen survives in Fine condition, showing honest wear from its time in circulation while retaining the core elements of its celebrated artistry. The obverse displays a youthful personification of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a design element created by Adolph Weinman. This distinctive headgear often led the public to mistake the figure for the Roman messenger god Mercury, giving the series its popular nickname. Legible inscriptions on this side include the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, alongside the 1925 year of minting. On the reverse, the design transitions to a powerful combination of symbols: an olive branch representing peace, closely intertwined with a fasces, which represents strength and collective authority.
