In 1925, the United States minted a special silver half dollar that stands as a notable example of early twentieth-century commemorative coinage. Struck in 90 percent silver at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin contains 0.3617 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a significant historical issue, with a total mintage of 1,314,709 pieces, and is preserved in Extra Fine condition. The obverse of the coin features a detailed depiction of Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson on horseback. Accompanying this central image are the inscriptions "STONE MOUNTAIN" and "1925," alongside the traditional mottoes "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "LIBERITY." On the reverse, an eagle is shown perched on a rocky crag. The surrounding text includes the words "MEMORIAL TO THE VALOR OF THE SOLDIER OF THE SOUTH," which defines the commemorative theme of the coin.
