1926 Buffalo Nickel BU

0.0000 troy oz 1926 Brilliant Unc

The 1926 five-cent piece stands as a remarkable example of early twentieth-century American coinage. Struck in copper-nickel, this issue is presented in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of its iconic imagery just as it looked when leaving the mint nearly a century ago. On the obverse, a dignified profile of a Native American facing right dominates the design. The word LIBERTY is inscribed along the upper right edge, with the year 1926 positioned at the lower left. Below the date, the letter F honors the designer, James Earle Fraser. Because this coin was produced at the Philadelphia Mint, it bears no mint mark. The reverse displays a massive American bison standing atop a raised mound of earth. The Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is placed above the animal's back, while the denomination FIVE CENTS is clearly inscribed along the bottom border. This combination of natural and cultural imagery captures a distinct era in United States numismatic history.
