The 10 cent piece minted in Denver during 1926 is a striking example of American coinage. Struck in 90% silver, this dime contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents a classic era of United States currency, often referred to as the Mercury Dime, though the central figure is actually a personification of Liberty. On the obverse, the design by Adolph Weinman showcases a youthful Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap. This headgear, which historically symbolized freedom of thought, led the public to mistake her for the Roman messenger god, Mercury. The front also bears the inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" alongside the 1926 date. The reverse side presents a contrasting set of symbols: a fasces, which is a bundle of rods bound around an ax, paired with an olive branch. These elements were chosen to represent both America's readiness for defense and its desire for peace. The Denver mint mark, indicated by a "D", is located on this side, marking its origin from the Colorado facility.
