1926 Mexico Gold 50 Pesos AU

1.2057 troy oz .900 1926 Almost Unc

Struck in 1926, this magnificent gold coin is a remarkable example of Mexican numismatic art. Issued by the Banco de México, it belongs to a celebrated series produced from 1921 to 1947. This specific year saw a limited production of 600,000 pieces, each composed of 90 percent gold and containing 1.2057 troy ounces of precious metal. The obverse features the national coat of arms of Mexico, depicting a powerful golden eagle perched upon a cactus while gripping a snake in its beak. Surrounding this central image is the inscription ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS, representing the nation's official name. On the reverse, the breathtaking Winged Victory design, often referred to as the Angel of Independence, dominates the view. The coin's face value of 50 PESOS is clearly marked alongside the gold content of 37.5 grams of pure gold, noted as 375Gr. ORO PURO. The dual dates of 1821 and 1926 are also prominently displayed, commemorating a century of independence.
