This gold trade coin from the Netherlands represents a classic European numismatic tradition. Struck in 1927 or 1928, the piece belongs to the famous Knight ducats series. It is composed of 0.983 fine gold, containing 0.1106 troy ounces of actual precious metal content. Surviving in Almost Uncirculated condition, it retains much of its original luster and detail from the era of its minting. The obverse features a standing armored knight facing to the right. In his hands, he holds a sword and a bundle of arrows, a powerful and traditional image for Dutch trade coinage. The year of manufacture is split on either side of the figure. REG.BELGII AD LEGEM IMPERII, which translates to the gold money of the Kingdom of Belgium (or the Low Countries) according to the law of the empire.
