0.9675 troy oz .900 1927 NGC

The 1927 twenty-dollar gold piece stands as a magnificent example of United States coinage. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint during the twilight of the pre-1933 gold era, this coin carries no mint mark. It represents a time when large gold coins circulated as a standard medium of exchange, carrying a face value of twenty dollars and containing nearly a full troy ounce of gold, specifically 0.9675 troy ounces of 0.900 fine gold. This particular specimen has survived the decades in an extraordinary state of preservation, graded Mint State 66 (MS-66). Out of an original mintage of 2,946,750 pieces, very few remain in such pristine condition. The Saint-Gaudens design is widely celebrated for its artistic depth, and viewing a certified gem-quality survivor allows one to appreciate the intricate details of the engraving just as it looked when it first emerged from the Philadelphia coining presses.
