1927 Buffalo Nickel BU

0.0000 troy oz 1927 Brilliant Unc

The 1927 five-cent piece stands as a classic representative of the Indian Head series, widely known as the Buffalo Nickel. This particular coin remains in brilliant uncirculated condition, preserving the intricate textures and bold relief envisioned by its creator, James Earle Fraser. On the obverse, a detailed profile of an American Indian faces right, accompanied by the word LIBERTY and the date 1927. The reverse displays a magnificent American bison standing atop a raised mound of earth. Above the animal, the Latin motto UNUM is visible, while the denomination FIVE CENTS is struck boldly below. Because this coin was minted in Philadelphia, it does not bear a mint mark, leaving the space below the mound clean and uninterrupted.
