0.0000 troy oz 1927 Very Fine

The 1927 five-cent piece stands as a classic example of American coinage from the era before 1933. This particular specimen has survived in Very Fine condition, showing the clear details of a design that departed from traditional heraldic imagery to celebrate the natural and cultural heritage of the American continent. On the obverse, the coin displays a powerful profile of an American Indian, accompanied by the word LIBERTY and the date of production. The reverse features a massive bison positioned on a raised mound, with the denomination of FIVE CENTS clearly visible below. Sculptor James Earle Fraser created this memorable artwork. Because this issue was struck at the Philadelphia Mint, it does not bear a mint mark, distinguishing it from those produced at branch mint facilities during the same year.
