Struck at the Denver Mint in 1927, this ten-cent piece represents a classic era of United States coinage. Crafted from 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. It survives today in a Very Fine state of preservation, displaying the clear details of a design that has captivated observers for generations. The obverse of the coin showcases a youthful depiction of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, an image that traditionally symbolizes freedom of thought. This distinctive headgear led to the popular, though technically inaccurate, nickname of the Mercury Dime. Alongside the portrait, the inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is paired with the 1927 date. On the reverse, the artistry of Adolph Weinman continues with a detailed fasces, a bundle of rods bound around an axe, which is closely intertwined with an olive branch.
