1927 Peace Dollar BU

0.7734 troy oz .900 1927 MS-60

The 1927 Peace Dollar represents a particularly scarce moment in American numismatic history. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint without a mint mark, this issue saw a production of only 848,000 pieces. This remarkably low number makes it the second scarcest release in the entire Peace dollar series, offering a fascinating point of study for those exploring early twentieth century silver coinage. On the obverse, the design presents a profile of Lady Liberty wearing a crown of pointed light rays, with the year 1927 positioned below her. The model who posed for this iconic representation of Liberty was Teresa de Francisci. The design also incorporates the classic motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" split across the field. The reverse side of the coin displays a peaceful Bald Eagle perched upon a mountain crag, clutching an olive branch. The word "PEACE" is inscribed directly beneath the eagle, anchoring the coin's thematic purpose. This specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, falling within the MS-60 to MS-63 grade range, and contains 0.7734 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver.
