Struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1928, this ten-cent silver coin is a remarkable survivor from the pre-1933 era of American coinage. It is minted from 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. With a total mintage of 7,400,000 pieces, finding an example in Brilliant Uncirculated condition offers a wonderful glimpse into the artistry of early twentieth-century American currency. The obverse features a youthful representation of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a design element that famously led the public to mistake her for the Roman god Mercury. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date "1928" are clearly visible on this side. On the reverse, the design presents a fasces, a bundle of rods bound around an ax, alongside an olive branch, symbolizing both strength and peace. The "S" mint mark, denoting its origin in San Francisco, is also located on this side.
