The 1928-S Walking Liberty half dollar represents a classic era of United States coinage, struck in 90 percent silver at the San Francisco Mint. This particular issue comes from a total mintage of 1,940,000 pieces. Containing 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal, it is preserved in Very Fine condition, showing the moderate wear typical of a coin that circulated during the late 1920s while retaining its key design details. On the obverse, Adolph Weinman's celebrated design depicts Lady Liberty moving gracefully toward a rising sun. She is draped in the folds of the American flag and cradles branches in her arm. The legend LIBERTY is placed along the upper rim, while the motto IN GOD WE TRUST and the date 1928 appear in the fields around her. The reverse features a powerful eagle perched on a mountain crag, its wings partially unfurled in a display of strength. The inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and HALF DOLLAR frame the central image, accompanied by the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. The "S" mint mark, indicating its origin in San Francisco, is also visible on this side of the coin.
