Struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1929, this classic United States ten-cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. As a circulated coin graded in Good or better condition, the outer rim may exhibit some signs of wear from its time in commerce during the late 1920s. The obverse of this dime displays a youthful personification of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wings. This distinctive headwear led to the popular nickname of the Mercury dime, though the design actually represents freedom of thought. Surrounding the portrait are the words IN GOD WE TRUST and the date 1929. On the reverse side, the design features a fasces, which is a bundle of rods bound around an axe, paired alongside an olive branch.
