1930-B Swiss Gold 20 Francs Helvetia BU
Struck in 1930, this Swiss 20 Francs gold coin is a beautiful example of European coinage from the early twentieth century. Minted in Bern, Switzerland, the coin contains 0.1867 troy ounces of gold at a purity of 0.900. It represents a classic design era for Swiss currency, which was produced in this style across various years between 1897 and 1949. The obverse side displays a graceful allegorical female profile representing Helvetia, the national personification of Switzerland. This portrait was created by Fritz Landry, whose name is inscribed near the base of the bust. Above her, the name HELVETIA is clearly legible, framing the symbolic figure. On the reverse, the traditional Swiss shield is displayed, nestled within a wreath of oak leaves. The denomination of 20 FR is split on either side of the shield, with the year of manufacture, 1930, and the B mint mark for Bern positioned below. This specific issue had a mintage of 3,371,764 pieces and is classified under the KM reference 35.1.
