1930 Mexico Gold 50 Pesos BU

In 1930, the Banco de México released a magnificent gold coin carrying a face value of 50 Pesos. This issue belongs to a historic series struck between 1921 and 1947, celebrated for both its impressive physical presence and its artistic merit. Minted with a purity of 0.900 fine gold, each of these substantial pieces contains 1.2057 troy ounces of precious metal. The year 1930 saw a specific production run of 372,000 of these coins, which survive today in brilliant uncirculated condition. The design of this coinage is a tribute to Mexican identity and independence. On the obverse, the national coat of arms displays a powerful golden eagle gripping a snake in its beak while perched atop a cactus. This central image is encircled by the inscription ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS, representing the united states of Mexico. The reverse is graced by the winged figure of Victory, often referred to as the Angel of Independence. She stands proudly against a backdrop of volcanic peaks, holding a laurel wreath high. Flanking this striking figure are the denomination, 50 PESOS, and the gold content, noted as 37.5G ORO PURO. The dual dates of 1821 and 1930 are also clearly visible, marking a long legacy of independence.
