Struck in 90 percent silver with a precious metal weight of 0.0715 troy ounces, this coin is widely recognized by its popular series name, the Mercury Dime. This particular piece survives in Fine condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that once circulated through the hands of everyday Americans during a challenging era in the nation's history. Designed by Adolph Weinman, the obverse of the coin presents a youthful portrait of Liberty. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with wings, a striking visual element intended to symbolize freedom of thought.
