0.0000 troy oz 1931 Almost Unc

The 1931-S Buffalo nickel represents a fascinating moment in United States coinage, combining rugged frontier imagery with the distinct craftsmanship of the San Francisco Mint. Struck in an Almost Uncirculated state, this five-cent piece retains much of its original detail, allowing observers to appreciate the texture and depth of its iconic artwork. On the obverse, a powerful right-facing portrait of a Native American dominates the field. The word "LIBERTY" is inscribed along the upper right edge, while the year 1931 is clearly visible at the base of the bust. James Earle Fraser designed this lifelike representation, capturing a sense of dignity and strength in the profile. The reverse of the coin features an American bison standing proudly on a raised mound. Above the animal, the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is delicately placed, while the denomination "FIVE CENTS" runs along the bottom. Just beneath the mound, the small "S" mint mark indicates its origin from the San Francisco facility, making this particular issue a compelling piece of American numismatic history.
