0.0715 troy oz .900 1931 Almost Unc

Struck at the San Francisco Mint during a pivotal era in American history, this 10 cent piece represents a classic chapter in United States coinage. The 1931-S Mercury Dime is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. This specimen survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the crisp details of its celebrated artwork. The obverse of the coin showcases a youthful depiction of Lady Liberty. She wears a winged Phrygian cap, a design element intended to symbolize freedom of thought, which famously led the public to mistake her for the Roman messenger god, Mercury. The legend "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the year "1931" are clearly visible on this side. On the reverse, the design transitions to a bundle of rods bound around an ax, known as a fasces, which is paired alongside a peaceful olive branch. This side also features the "S" mint mark, indicating its origin at the San Francisco facility, along with the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the denomination "ONE DIME."
