1933-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar Fine

In 1933, the San Francisco mint struck a silver half dollar that remains a celebrated example of American coinage design. Minted with 90 percent silver, this fifty-cent piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. This specific coin has survived the decades in Fine condition, showing the honest wear of a piece that once circulated through the hands of the public. The obverse of the coin displays Adolph Weinman's famous depiction of Lady Liberty. She is captured mid-stride, walking gracefully toward a rising sun while cradling a bundle of branches in her arm. The words IN GOD WE TRUST and the year 1933 are clearly visible on this side. On the reverse, a majestic eagle is perched upon a rocky crag, wings slightly spread as if preparing to take flight. The traditional Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is inscribed alongside the country name, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the denomination, HALF DOLLAR, completing a design that is widely considered one of the most beautiful in the history of United States coinage.
