The 10 cent piece from 1934, struck at the Denver Mint, is a remarkable example of American coinage art. Struck in 90 percent silver with a precious metal weight of 0.0715 troy ounces, this coin is widely known as the Mercury Dime. This particular specimen is preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, retaining much of its original luster and detail from the era. The obverse of the coin presents a youthful profile of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a design element by Adolph Weinman that was intended to represent freedom of thought. Surrounding this central figure are the inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date "1934". On the reverse, the design features a fasces, a bundle of rods bound around an axe, which is closely entwined with an olive branch. These contrasting symbols represent strength and readiness for defense alongside a desire for peace. The reverse inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "ONE DIME", along with the "D" mint mark indicating its origin in Denver.
