1934-D Mercury Dime Good/VF

0.0715 troy oz .900 1934 Good or Better

Struck at the Denver Mint in 1934, this ten-cent piece represents a classic era of American coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. Its surfaces tell a story of circulation, where the outer rim may exhibit signs of gentle wear from its time in commerce. The obverse presents the famous portrait of a youthful Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, a design conceived by the artist Adolph Weinman. This distinctive headgear often led the public to mistake the figure for the Roman messenger god, Mercury. Accompanying the portrait is the inscription of the year 1934 and the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST". On the reverse, Weinman's detailed artistry continues with a central fasces entwined with an olive branch. The Denver mint mark "D" is visible alongside the traditional legends "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "ONE DIME".
