The 10 cent denomination from 1934 offers a striking look at one of the most celebrated designs in United States coinage. Often referred to as the Mercury Dime, this silver piece actually depicts a youthful personification of Liberty on its obverse. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap adorned with wings, a detail intended to symbolize freedom of thought. The obverse is also inscribed with the words IN GOD WE TRUST and the date 1934. On the reverse side, the design transitions to a powerful combination of symbols: a fasces, representing strength and unity, alongside an olive branch, signifying peace. The Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is clearly visible, surrounded by the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DIME. Struck in 90 percent silver at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. This particular specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, meaning it retains its original luster and sharp details just as it appeared when leaving the mint.
