1935-D Buffalo Nickel VF

0.0000 troy oz 1935 Very Fine

The 1935-D Buffalo Nickel stands as a classic representative of twentieth-century American coinage. Minted in Denver, this five-cent piece is composed of copper and nickel, displaying the honest wear of a coin in Very Fine condition. The design captures a rugged, naturalistic aesthetic that departed significantly from the more traditional, allegorical coinage of previous eras. On the obverse, the profile of an American Indian faces right, accompanied by the inscription "LIBERTY" and the 1935 year of minting. The reverse displays a massive American bison standing atop a raised mound. Inscriptions on this side include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", the Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM", and the denomination "FIVE CENTS". This particular issue features the distinctive "D" mint mark of the Denver Mint, located on the reverse below the mound. Created by the artist James Earle Fraser, this coinage series remains celebrated for its bold, distinctly American imagery.
