The 1935 Mercury Dime, struck at the Denver Mint, is a beautiful example of early twentieth-century American coinage. Crafted from 90 percent silver, this ten-cent piece contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. Rendered in Extra Fine condition, the coin retains much of its original detail, allowing observers to appreciate the artistry of its creator, Adolph Weinman. On the obverse, Weinman depicted a youthful personification of Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap. This distinctive headgear, which often led the public to mistake Liberty for the Roman messenger god Mercury, was intended to symbolize freedom of thought. The legend "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date "1935" are clearly visible on this side. The reverse design presents a striking contrast, featuring a fasces wrapped in an olive branch.
