1935-S Buffalo Nickel MS-65 PCGS

0.0000 troy oz 1935 MS-65 (PCGS)

The 1935 Buffalo Nickel struck at the San Francisco Mint represents a classic era of American coinage. This particular specimen is certified in Mint State 65 (MS-65), showcasing the exceptional preservation of its original details. James Fraser designed this five-cent piece, opting for a rugged, realistic aesthetic that departed from traditional allegorical figures. The obverse presents a powerful right-facing profile of a Native American, with the word LIBERTY clearly inscribed along the upper right edge. On the reverse, a massive American bison stands on a raised mound, a distinctive design element of this series. The San Francisco mint mark, a small S, is located on the reverse beneath the denomination of five cents. Out of a mintage of 10,300,000, finding an example preserved in this high-grade condition offers a wonderful glimpse into the artistry of mid-century American circulating currency.
